Divine Ikubor popularly known by his stage name as Rema is a fast rising Nigerian hip hop rapper, Afro beats singer, songwriter, stage performer, recording artist and a model.
He is currently signed to Mavin Record’s by Don Jazzy. He was born in 2001 in Benin City, Edo State in the south southern part of Nigeria.
He is very handsome, gifted, skillful, creative and talented.
Rema was born in 2000 in Benin City, Edo State. Born into a Christian family, Rema grew up singing and rapping while in secondary school. He attained his primary and secondary school education in Edo State.
In 2013, Rema and his friend Alpha P formed a group called RnA. The group’s name is a combination of the first letters of their stage names. RnA won season 2 of Pikolo’s Dream Alive talent show.
They signed a record deal with Peak Entertainment shortly afterwards and released their debut single “Mercy”. The mid-tempo song was recorded at Dream Alive Studio in Benin City. The music video for “Mercy” was directed by Whyte House Pictures.
The group gained minor exposure following their performance at the Glo Slide and Bounce concert series in Benin and Lagos.
In 2018, Rema posted a viral freestyle to D’Prince’s track “Gucci Gang”. The post caught the attention of D’Prince who flew him to Lagos to offer a record deal. Rema signed a record deal with D’Prince’s Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records in 2019.
He released his eponymous debut EP Rema in 2019. It peaked at number 1 on Apple Music Nigeria.
According to the words of D’Prince; “When I first heard Rema’s work I knew this was an artist I wanted the entire world to listen to. His talent and artistry are so far beyond his years.”
D’Prince moves to discover more artists alongside Mavin Global. D’Prince also stated that this will be people with exceptional talents like Rema. D’Prince was the one that introduced Rema to Don Jazzy and had him signed a contract record deal with Mavin Records and Jonzingworld Record in late 2018.
According to the words of Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy; “Rema is a formidable young artist. With his skill and versatility, he has a unique place in the future of Afro beats. At the same time, we are excited to launch our first imprint deal with Jonzing World” Don Jazzy revealed this during a press briefing.
According to Don Jazzy; “The model will expand the number of ways the Mavin platform can support artists and entrepreneurship in Africa to grow together at home and internationally” he stated.

On 19 October 2019, Rema won Next Rated and was nominated for Viewer’s Choice at the 13th edition of The Headies. On 12 January 2020, he received the Souncity mvp for best new artist. On 15 June 2020 Rema was nominated as Best Viewers Choice: International Act on the 2020 BET Awards.
He was nominated on the awards alongside Burna Boy and Wizkid, they were the only Nigerian Artistes nominated for the awards edition of 2020.
Rema is currently one of the richest and most influential artist in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $500,000.
